Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Frankfurt, Germany!

Frankfurt, spanning the River Main before it joins the Rhine, also melds cultures, languages and lifestyles, with accommodations from the smallest pension to large luxury hotels. Berlin may be Germany's capital, yet Frankfurt reigns as its financial center, loaded with financial institutions including the European Central Bank. On a more frivolous note, the city stages more than 100 street festivals annually attracting millions. Most of Frankfurt (and almost all its core) was destroyed during World War II, and rebuilding followed a pathway of innovation rather than restoration. Frankfurt's skyline, more reminiscent of New York than the Federal Republic, has generated a Mainhatten nickname underscored by energetic nightlife, with numerous theaters, galleries, and museums. Touring typically includes a visit to the Roemerberg (old town center) and Goethe House, the restored birthplace of famed poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. In summer, the Main Tower's observation platform offers a spectacular city view. The Gothic cathedral of St. Bartholomaeus, the ancient venue for election and coronation of the Holy Roman Emperors, also has a tower that invites climbing. Other popular sights are the Bethmann-Bank, Hauptwache / Zeil (Germany's most profitable shopping promenade), the Frankfurt Stock Market, Willy-Brandt-Platz (the European Central Bank), the Deutsche-Bundesbank (the German Federal Bank), and the Stadel Art Institute, one of Europe's most comprehensive art galleries. Central Frankfurt can be covered on foot, with major sights inside old city walls, turned into a park. From here, visitors often cross the Main into Sachsenhausen, where museums dot the southern river bank. To explore beyond central Frankfurt, Sachsenhausen awaits on the Main's south bank. Part of Frankfurt since 1318, this city-within-a-city is also called the "apple wine quarter," where the famed product is served in nearly every bar. Schweizer Strasse is filled with specialty shops, and there is a Saturday morning flea market in the old Schlachthaus (slaughterhouse) on Deutschherrnufer (opposite the Floesserbruecke). At the green belt's western end is the Palmengarten, with subtropical palms and manicured gardens.
